“Teacher, please tell my brother to divide our father”s estate with me.” Jesus replied, “Friend, who made me a judge over you to decide such things as that?” Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.” Lk 12:13b-15. In God’s eyes life is not measured by what you have but by what you give. You will never truly experience how to live until you learn how to give, not just materially but of yourself, your time and your talents. God has called you to be an instrument in His hand, a vehicle of blessing, a messenger of hope and love, to reveal God’s ways to the hurting and lost caught up in a selfish and self indulgent world that is focussed on gain and kudos to the detriment of others. Praise God today that He is a generous loving God who gave us Jesus and blesses us daily so that we too can experience true joy through our giving.
