Then Jesus led them to Bethany, and lifting his hands to heaven, he blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up to heaven. So they worshiped him and then returned to Jerusalem filled with great joy. Lk 24:50-52. Jesus ascended into Heaven in victory. The work of the Father was complete as death had been defeated, and Jesus had made a way for all humanity to embrace the Father’s love and to walk in the freedom and liberty that God had always intended for us to enjoy. The ascension of Jesus into Heaven was the final confirmation of His deity and everything that Jesus taught. It was the fulfilment of God’s redemptive plan for humanity that had been foretold hundreds of years earlier. Rejoice today that as you reflect on Easter, that Jesus defeated death to give you a victorious life of freedom and liberty in this life, and then an even more glorious eternal life with Him, in Heaven.
