But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. Lk 6:27-28. Loving your enemies is so contrary to the world’s ways, but is powerful in protecting your heart. When you pray for those who hurt you, you are not allowing vengeance, hate or bitterness a foothold in your life. As you hand them over to God in prayer, you release God’s supernatural redemptive power into the situation, to change hearts, minds and attitudes. God’s ways will produce peace rather than enemies to bring freedom into your life. You can walk in victory knowing that God is with you. When you show love to your enemies you highlight the poverty of their actions in the light of the love of Jesus shining through your life. Praise God today that walking in His ways in dealing with our enemies will bring peace into our life.
