Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Col 3:13. Forgiveness is not a natural trait, but with God’s help we can. In Luke we read on how Jesus was betrayed by the jewish leaders, tried in a Jewish and Roman court, beaten, mocked, then crucified naked on a Roman cross, then just before he died in lk 23:34a Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.”. Jesus’ heart was always full of love, even to his executioners. If Jesus can forgive the most heinous of acts, we too must forgive others. This is so important to God, that in the Lord’s prayer that Jesus taught us, we pray “forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us”. Praise God today that through Jesus we have been forgiven and given a fresh start and an eternal hope, so let’s forgive others as Jesus forgave us.
