And forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. Mat 6:12. In the Lord’s prayer we actually ask God to forgive us as we forgive others. This is so important to God as Jesus taught us to pray this was in the Lord’s prayer. When we refuse to forgive others, we place ourselves above God, by determining what is unforgivable, when God directs us to forgive. It is forgiveness that has reconciled us to God, who is showing us how to live and love one another. As we forgive, we reach out with the same hand that God extended to us. However once we have forgiven someone, it doesn’t mean we must trust them again. Trust must be earned, and that takes time. Forgiveness is key to real peace in our life, not only with man but also with God. Praise God today that as we forgive others, we will experience the peace of God in our life in a greater measure than we ever thought possible.
