Jesus wants to help us deal with our own issues before we try to help others

Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. Mat 7:3-5. If we’re struggling with an addiction, we are not to be self righteous and believe we can advise someone else with the same problem when our struggle may even be greater, until we have overcome the situation ourselves, and then we can help them from a place of victory. Until then, a position of humility in suggesting to help and support each other overcome the same issue together, would reflect a right heart. Praise God today that He is our strength to overcome whenever we are struggling with something in our life. Prayerchair.org
