Good friends are God’s gift to us
Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.” 1 Cor 15:33. We were made for relationship, with God and with each other. As part of our relationships, we need people who will support us, build us up and encourage us. But there will also be those who are not a good influence, whose lifestyle is so very different to our own that they will start to influence who we become. We need to come away or reduce our contact with those people as we are called to be the salt of the earth, to add flavour to life and to let God’s light shine through us. If instead we are being influenced and flavoured by unsavoury influences our light will start to diminish until we are changed into someone we don’t want to become. Praise God for good friends today. Ask Him to bless those who are dear to us and to give us new friends who would add to our character rather than take away.
