Your words are key to your own peace and the peace of others
Starting a quarrel is like opening a floodgate, so stop before a dispute breaks out. Pr17:14. We can’t always control what happens to us or what people say, but we can control how we respond. Our words can placate a situation or inflame it. Sometimes it will involve great restraint as everything inside you may want to bite back regardless of the consequences that could cost you dearly. Christmas can be a difficult time when families get together and differences from years back spring up to cause strife. Make a point of being a peace keeper and allowing God’s love to flow through you, even if things are difficult. Be willing to agree to disagree, and move on. Pray quietly before and during difficult situations for God’s wisdom to direct your words and actions. Praise God today that He’s the way of peace, unity, forgiveness and reconciliation who will never let you down as you turn your heart to these things.
